Speech on Republic Day (26 January) India for Students
Good morning to my respected sir, chief guest, and my dear friends. As we all know, we are all here to celebrate the Republic Day of our country. This is an auspicious event for each of us. Since 1950, we have been celebrating Republic Day consistently with lots of joy and happiness.
Before the festival begins, President of India hoists the national flag of India at Rajpath. At this point, we all stand up and sing our national anthem, which is a symbol of unity and peace in India. The great poet Rabindranath Tagore writes our national anthem.
After gaining independence from British rule on August 15, 1947, India, however, did not have a permanent constitution, all the regulations were based on the modified colonial law of the Indian Government of 1935.
However, on August 28, 1947, the Design Committee was established, a permanent constitution, with the help of Dr. BR Ambedkar. After many constitutional changes, the final draft was signed by 308 members of the congregation on January 24, 1950. Two days later it came into force throughout the country.
On January 26, 1950, the new Indian constitution entered into force, and India became a republican nation. A democratic republican nation that did not rule by any hereditary king or queen and the government has been electing by ordinary citizens of the country. The constitution also encouraged all citizens to equal social and economic rights.
Our national flag has three colors and an Ashok chakra at the center. All three colors of our Indian national flag have some meaning; the top color of our flag’s saffron means strength and courage of our country. The middle white color means peace, while the lower green color means growth and prosperity. Inside, there is a navy blue wheel with 24 even arms, which indicates the Dharma chakra of the great King Asoka.
We celebrate Republic Day on January 26, when the Indian Constitution came to power on that day in 1950. During celebrations on Republic Day, the Indian legislature in New Delhi, Rajpath makes excellent arrangements at the Gate of India.
Each year, the chief guest (President of another country) invites to fulfill the slogan of saying “Atithi Devo Bhava” and to the glory of this occasion. The Indian army parades on Republic Day and salutes the national flag.
The Republic implies the incomparable strength of the people living in the nation, and open has the right to elect its representatives as political leaders to lead the country in the right way.
In this way, India is a republican nation in which it elects its leaders as President, prime minister, and so on. Our great Indian contenders for flexibility have fought to drown for “Purna Swaraj” in India. They did so that their future ages could live without a fight and develop the nation forward.
Let us recall all those freedom fighters who fought to free our nation from British rule. Our great Indian leaders and freedom fighters were Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Chandra Shekher Ajad, Lala Lajpat Rai, Sardar Ballabh Bhai Patel, Lal Bahadur Shastri and so on.
They were bravely struggling against the British rule for India to become a free nation. We always remember their penances towards our nation. We should remember that during such surprising events, greet them.

We all know that August 15, 1947, India got independence, and after that January on 26th 1950, the constitution implemented. January 26 was chosen as Republic Day, because it was the day in 1930 when the Independence of India was proclaimed by the Indian National Congress, as opposed to the status of Dominion offered by the British regime.
The Drafting Committee was nominated to draft a preliminary constitution on August 28, 1947, in guidance of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar as lead the project. The preliminary constitution was prepared by the committee and submitted to the Assembly on November 4, 1947. The Assembly arranged sessions open to the public 166 days before the adoption of the constitution. Since then, we celebrate this day every year as the day of the Indian Republic.
The names of the great Indian freedom fighters and leaders of our country are Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Lala Lajpat, Rai Chandrashekhar Azad, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Lal Bahadur Shastri, and many more for the country.
Efforts were being made and faced the oppressions which were being carried out on us by the British government, we cannot forget their sacrifice under any circumstances because all these fighters, with their full strength, made the country independent and the entirely Republic, we should all thank them wholeheartedly who have been able to make this country independent and Republic due to which today we Sitting at home, you are able to sleep well and take good breath in the independent environment.
First President Dr. Rajendra Prasad said that we had got the right of our large and colossal country. In the same constitution and association which takes responsibility for the welfare of citizens living in the country. Since we have the autonomy of the British race in 1947, our nation has built a lot on and a considerable part of the developing nations.
Along with improvements, several drawbacks have been also emerged. Drawbacks such as disproportion, destitution, unemployment, defilement, lack of education, etc. are creating hurdle in the progress of the nation. Today we must promise to solve such problems in public, to make our nation the best in the world.
India is a righteous & democratic nation, where it empowers India to become a powerful country which cannot kneel in front of anyone.
So on this Republic Day, let us all take the pledge together against corruption that is happening and causing hurdle in progress challenges so that India can reach a high level.
On the occasion of Republic Day, there organize events every year at the Rajpath, New Delhi, where our Indian soldiers show a parade in front of the many national and international guests. People begin to visit the path of paradise early in the morning to see the various activities that perform by Indian soldiers. Republic Day Parade begins at Rajpath by displaying various arms, weapons, tanks, big guns, etc.
Many states of the country also exhibit Exhibition, Jhanki related to their culture, traditions of events, and development after independence shows the existence of “unity in diversity in India.” People also like to perform folk dances, and love singing patriotic songs.
At the end of the event, tri-color (saffron, white and green) flower shower by helicopters in the sky showing the symbol of the national flag. Some colored balloons are also left to fly in the sky, indicates the symbol of peace.
Today, as a whole, we are here to celebrate the 71st day of the republic day of our country. This is an amazing and proud event for all of us.
